Mnemonic Phrase (also called Recovery Phrase or Seed Phrase) is a sequence of 12, 18, or 24 English words used to restore and back up all private keys and assets in a crypto wallet.
The mnemonic phrase is the only credential with full control over a crypto wallet. Anyone who possesses it can access all funds within the wallet. Therefore, protecting your mnemonic phrase is more critical than safeguarding your wallet password. If lost or leaked, your assets may be permanently irretrievable.
Storage Guidelines:
1. Store Offline: Write it on paper or a durable medium (e.g., fire/waterproof metal plate). Never store digitally.
2. Multiple Backups: Distribute backups across secure locations, never keep all in one place.
3. Avoid Digital Recordings: never take photos, screenshots or transmit the phrase via chat tools to prevent hacking or accidental disclosure.
4. Beware of Scams – No legitimate service will ever ask for it. Never share your phrase with anyone.
Your mnemonic phrase is the last line of defense for wallet security. Store it offline, check backups regularly, and immediately transfer funds if disclosure is suspected.
